I'm impressed by WebP since big high-res images can be compressed without losing much quality. Of course, tooling support is an issue sometimes. Not that I store my own images as WebP.

If after all these years, I still have to write my own workaround scripts and tools to allow other software to open your stupid image format, don't expect me to congratulate you. The only things that I have on my system that can use webp are browsers, the google webp utilities, and scripts/plugins I wrote to use those utilities. There are even more esoteric file formats that I have an easier time opening.

I genuinely didn't know people hated this format. I just thought it was a slightly worse version of PNG but better than JPG, I never based that on anything it was just an assumption.

You can actually have too much security. If the security features you enable make it more cumbersome to operate your PC then it is too much.

I'm afraid I join the webp haters. I use a variety of computers, some even going back to Windows 7, since some applications won't work in newer OS's. I'm sold on jpg - usable everywhere. In summary - I HATE webp!

Yeah I remember Windows 8. I remember reading about it as a concept when it was first announced and that they wanted to merge ordinary desktop interfaces with tablet ones. I remember my first and initial thoughts were 'why?' and 'what for?' 🤔 I still to this day think it was a dumb idea. Some things are just incompatible

I grind my teeth on products from Chinese based companies. Some of these companies are just repackaging domestic Chinese products so you end up with having a 3rd party building the software and adding additional unauthorized features. Problem is the companies distributing the products don't care enough to vet the software.

I recommend WizTree over WinDirStat. Wiztree does the exact same thing but its newer and way faster at doing it
